Evidence-based therapy provides a structured approach that includes psychoeducation, skill-building, and ongoing progress assessment. The goal is to empower you to use the skills learned so that you see lasting change and can become your own therapist.

If we collaboratively decide that we are a good fit after your free 15 minute consultation, we will schedule our first session. I will set up your client portal where you will receive all enrollment paperwork. Please complete all paperwork prior to our first appointment.
-
The first session is all about getting to know you! We will talk about your motivation to seek therapy, symptoms, challenges, values and strengths. Collaboratively, we will discuss goals for treatment. This appointment will be 50 minutes. Sometimes, 50 minutes is not enough so we may continue this conversation for the first few sessions.
PS It is normal to be nervous!!

Often, it is helpful to reflect on what you’d like to discuss including current challenges or struggles. Make a list and bring it in!
-
That is ok! The therapeutic alliance plays a huge role in therapy. If we are not a good fit, I can provide you with referrals.
-
The short answer is… it depends. Perhaps your presenting problem resolves soon, perhaps it takes a while to work through things, perhaps new things emerge as we continue to work together. So, the length of time we work together depends completely on your unique needs.
-
Therapy has a beginning, a middle, and an end. In the beginning sessions, we will talk about the reasons you decided to seek therapy and your goals for treatment. The middle part of therapy is where we put in the work- this usually involves processing and skill building using evidence based practices. There is no set number of “middle” sessions. This all depends on how we are doing with helping you reach your goals.
As we work together, a conversation about termination may arise. We will revisit your initial reasons for seeking therapy and discuss where you are in terms of achieving your goals. Termination sessions are usually reflective; we will review your time in therapy and discuss your growth. We can also brush up/ review skills learned.
